We had the good fortune to experience Bonfire Night and Orangeman’s Day marches in Northern Ireland a few years back. Listening to the radio, we were intrigued at the discussions related to the history of July 12, and whether the political expressions related to Ireland’s “Troubles” were still relevant, or whether these events had become celebrations aimed at locals and tourists alike.
